Sex Addicts Anonymous

A twelve-step fellowship for people recovering from sexual addiction.

saa-recovery.org

What the fellowship is

Sex Addicts Anonymous helps members define their own boundaries of healthy sexual behaviour rather than applying a single standard. Its central tool is the Three Circles — inner, middle and outer — written with a sponsor.

What members describe

Not a checklist and not a diagnosis — just what people in SAA commonly say brought them in.

  • Sexual thoughts or behaviour that has become unmanageable
  • Repeated attempts to stop or limit specific behaviours that did not hold
  • A double life, maintained at cost
  • Compulsion getting in the way of forming a real attachment to anyone
  • Financial, professional or emotional consequences already arrived

Your first meeting

SAA is diverse and deliberately non-prescriptive: you write your own bottom lines with a sponsor rather than being handed them. For people who have bounced off a stricter definition, that is usually the difference.

Where 12Gradus fits

12Gradus is software for the sponsor, not a substitute for one and not part of any fellowship. Nothing here is affiliated with or endorsed by Sex Addicts Anonymous.

A sponsee's profile records that they are in Sex Addicts Anonymous and dates their clean time from their sobriety date. Daily check-ins, a self-reported urge score, high-risk days noted beside the chart, a rough-moment button that reaches the sponsor immediately, secure chat and a text bridge all work the same in every programme.

The step work is the part that does not. The built-in library is written for Gamblers Anonymous. A sponsor in SAA assigns their own materials instead — which works, and is what sponsors have always done, but it is not the same as having SAA's own step work in the app.
