Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of 12Gradus — the website at 12gradus.com, the 12Gradus application, our SMS messaging, and our shop — operated by MCK Legacy LLC ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. What 12Gradus is — and is not

12Gradus is a tool that helps 12-step sponsors and sponsees organize their work together: communication, step assignments, check-ins, scheduling, and milestones. It supports the human relationship at the heart of sponsorship; it does not replace it.

12Gradus is not a medical, mental-health, or professional service. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, therapy, or crisis intervention. Sponsors are peers in recovery, not professionals. 12Gradus is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a part of any 12-step fellowship.

If you are in crisis, do not rely on this service. Call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 1-800-GAMBLER (National Problem Gambling Helpline). Both are free, confidential, and answer 24/7. In an emergency, call 911.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to use 12Gradus. You are responsible for your account credentials and for the accuracy of the information you provide. One person may act as both a sponsor and a sponsee. You may only connect with a sponsee through an invitation they accept, and you may only provide a phone number you are authorized to provide.

3. Acceptable use

Use the service only for genuine recovery support.
Respect anonymity: do not disclose another member's identity, participation, or recovery information outside the service without their consent.
No harassment, abuse, exploitation, solicitation, or unlawful content.
No attempts to access data that is not yours or to interfere with the service.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or put other members at risk.

4. SMS messaging terms (12Gradus Recovery Support Texts)

Program description: 12Gradus Recovery Support Texts is an optional SMS program that delivers one-to-one recovery support messages between a sponsee and their own sponsor as text messages: session and meeting details when they are booked, milestone encouragement, check-in follow-ups, and replies to support requests. It is a conversational, person-to-app messaging service and is never used for marketing or promotional messages.
Opt-in: you can enroll only by providing your own mobile number in the app and then replying YES to a consent request text sent to that number. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of using 12Gradus or of any purchase.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
Opt-out: reply STOP to any message to cancel and stop receiving texts. After you send STOP, you will receive one final message confirming your opt-out, and no further messages will be sent. Reply START to re-subscribe. SMS can also be turned off in the app at any time.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Do not use SMS for emergencies.

5. Your content

You own what you write in 12Gradus. You grant us only the limited license needed to store, transmit, and display it to the people you have connected with, as the service is designed to do. Sponsors who share assignment templates with the community grant other sponsors the right to use them within 12Gradus, credited by display name.

6. Plans, purchases, and the shop

Sponsee accounts are free. Sponsor plans are subscriptions billed at the prices shown in the app, and may be canceled anytime, effective at the end of the billing period. Shop purchases (milestone magnets, apparel, and similar items) are processed by Stripe and fulfilled by our print partners; prices, shipping, and any return handling are shown at checkout. Milestone gifting is a prompt, not a standing order: turning on auto-gift for a sponsee means we notify the sponsoring account before each milestone and surface the right magnet in the shop. Nothing is ordered or charged until that account adds it to the cart and completes checkout, and we do not store or charge a card outside a checkout you complete yourself.

7. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, or the conduct, advice, or outcomes of any member.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MCK Legacy LLC and its members, officers, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or $50 if you have paid nothing.

9. Changes and termination

We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date, and continued use after that constitutes acceptance. You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which MCK Legacy LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
