SLAA

Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous

A twelve-step fellowship for people recovering from sex and love addiction.

What the fellowship is

Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous covers compulsion in both directions — sexual acting out, romantic obsession, and the avoidance of intimacy its literature calls anorexia. Members define personal bottom-line behaviours with a sponsor.

What members describe

Not a checklist and not a diagnosis — just what people in SLAA commonly say brought them in.

  • Falling in love instantly and being wholly occupied by it
  • Staying somewhere painful because leaving means withdrawal
  • Seeking encounters to manage a feeling rather than to want one
  • Disproportionate collapse when a relationship ends
  • Avoiding closeness altogether, which is the same problem facing the other way

Your first meeting

SLAA holds both the craving for intensity and the fear of actual intimacy, which is why people who felt they did not fit elsewhere often land here.

Where 12Gradus fits

12Gradus is software for the sponsor, not a substitute for one and not part of any fellowship. Nothing here is affiliated with or endorsed by Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous.

A sponsee's profile records that they are in Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous and dates their clean time from their sobriety date. Daily check-ins, a self-reported urge score, high-risk days noted beside the chart, a rough-moment button that reaches the sponsor immediately, secure chat and a text bridge all work the same in every programme.

The step work is the part that does not. The built-in library is written for Gamblers Anonymous. A sponsor in SLAA assigns their own materials instead — which works, and is what sponsors have always done, but it is not the same as having SLAA's own step work in the app.
