Sexual Compulsives Anonymous

A twelve-step fellowship for people recovering from sexual compulsion.

What the fellowship is

Sexual Compulsives Anonymous is a fellowship for people recovering from sexual compulsion. It has long been explicitly open across sexual orientations, and members write their own Sexual Recovery Plan rather than adopting a common definition of sobriety.

What members describe

Not a checklist and not a diagnosis — just what people in SCA commonly say brought them in.

  • Compulsion toward anonymous sex, cybersex or hookups that disrupts the rest of life
  • Sexual intensity standing in for intimacy
  • Safety, health or work compromised by it
  • A cycle of high and crash that is familiar and still surprising
  • Wanting a room where orientation will not be treated as part of the problem

Your first meeting

SCA is inclusive by design and puts self-determination at the centre. You define your own recovery plan; the fellowship supports you in keeping to it.

Where 12Gradus fits

12Gradus is software for the sponsor, not a substitute for one and not part of any fellowship. Nothing here is affiliated with or endorsed by Sexual Compulsives Anonymous.

A sponsee's profile records that they are in Sexual Compulsives Anonymous and dates their clean time from their sobriety date. Daily check-ins, a self-reported urge score, high-risk days noted beside the chart, a rough-moment button that reaches the sponsor immediately, secure chat and a text bridge all work the same in every programme.

The step work is the part that does not. The built-in library is written for Gamblers Anonymous. A sponsor in SCA assigns their own materials instead — which works, and is what sponsors have always done, but it is not the same as having SCA's own step work in the app.
