Food Addicts Anonymous
A twelve-step fellowship for people recovering from food addiction, understood as a dependency on sugar, flour and wheat.
What the fellowship is
Food Addicts Anonymous is a twelve-step fellowship that treats food addiction as a physical dependency, specifically on sugar, flour and wheat, and offers a food plan built around removing them.
What members describe
Not a checklist and not a diagnosis — just what people in FAA commonly say brought them in.
- Sugar, flour or wheat being impossible to stop eating once started
- Bloating, lethargy or mood swings that follow certain foods reliably
- Bingeing, purging or severe restriction
- Time and money going into planning and eating alone
- Mental occupation with the next meal regardless of the last one
Your first meeting
FAA meetings lean toward the biochemical account of food addiction. If diets have repeatedly failed in a way that felt physical rather than moral, that framing tends to be the part that lands.
Where 12Gradus fits
12Gradus is software for the sponsor, not a substitute for one and not part of any fellowship. Nothing here is affiliated with or endorsed by Food Addicts Anonymous.
A sponsee's profile records that they are in Food Addicts Anonymous and dates their clean time from their last binge. Daily check-ins, a self-reported urge score, high-risk days noted beside the chart, a rough-moment button that reaches the sponsor immediately, secure chat and a text bridge all work the same in every programme.
The step work is the part that does not. The built-in library is written for Gamblers Anonymous. A sponsor in FAA assigns their own materials instead — which works, and is what sponsors have always done, but it is not the same as having FAA's own step work in the app.
