Emotions Anonymous
A twelve-step fellowship for people working on emotional and mental wellbeing.
What the fellowship is
Emotions Anonymous is a twelve-step fellowship for people working through emotional difficulty. It is not clinical and holds no view on treatment; it offers peer support, and members who use it alongside professional care are entirely ordinary there.
What members describe
Not a checklist and not a diagnosis — just what people in EA commonly say brought them in.
- Anxiety, low mood, anger or panic that shapes the day
- Looping, obsessive thought that will not put itself down
- Withdrawing from people because contact costs too much
- Reaching for food, shopping, work or a relationship to take the edge off
- A persistent flatness or dissatisfaction that has no obvious cause
Your first meeting
There are no experts at an EA meeting and nobody plays therapist. Members describe applying the steps to ordinary feelings on ordinary days, which is less dramatic and more useful than it sounds.
Where 12Gradus fits
12Gradus is software for the sponsor, not a substitute for one and not part of any fellowship. Nothing here is affiliated with or endorsed by Emotions Anonymous.
A sponsee's profile records that they are in Emotions Anonymous and dates their clean time from their recovery start. Daily check-ins, a self-reported urge score, high-risk days noted beside the chart, a rough-moment button that reaches the sponsor immediately, secure chat and a text bridge all work the same in every programme.
The step work is the part that does not. The built-in library is written for Gamblers Anonymous. A sponsor in EA assigns their own materials instead — which works, and is what sponsors have always done, but it is not the same as having EA's own step work in the app.
