Workaholics Anonymous
A twelve-step fellowship for people recovering from work addiction.
What the fellowship is
Workaholics Anonymous is a fellowship for people recovering from compulsive work. It deals with overwork, perfectionism and busyness as things used the way other fellowships' members use a substance.
What members describe
Not a checklist and not a diagnosis — just what people in WA commonly say brought them in.
- Hours that do not stop at evenings or weekends
- Health, sleep and relationships consistently coming last
- Guilt or restlessness whenever you are not being productive
- Taking on more than is possible, then rushing all of it
- Work as somewhere to be, so as not to be somewhere harder
Your first meeting
WA meetings are unhurried on purpose. Members work on perfectionism, hyper-responsibility and the discomfort of stillness, with practical tools like abstinent hours and a daily rest that is actually taken.
Where 12Gradus fits
12Gradus is software for the sponsor, not a substitute for one and not part of any fellowship. Nothing here is affiliated with or endorsed by Workaholics Anonymous.
A sponsee's profile records that they are in Workaholics Anonymous and dates their clean time from their recovery start. Daily check-ins, a self-reported urge score, high-risk days noted beside the chart, a rough-moment button that reaches the sponsor immediately, secure chat and a text bridge all work the same in every programme.
The step work is the part that does not. The built-in library is written for Gamblers Anonymous. A sponsor in WA assigns their own materials instead — which works, and is what sponsors have always done, but it is not the same as having WA's own step work in the app.
